Lightning struck this walnut tree and left deep scars in the wood fiber. Instead of just tossing this onto the burn pile as many would, we filled these scars with tinted resin. This is reminiscent of the Japanese art of Kintsugi where broken pottery is mended with lacquer mixed with gold powder. Once the resin cured, the blocks were milled out then sanded and finished by hand. Each one is a unique piece of art and a discussion piece for your home.
