Billiard Room Bar Table

I was contacted by Mike from Nistenhaus Design about a table he needed for a client. It was to go into the billiard room of his condo and fill a long narrow nook. The client is a Canadian living in St Louis and likes natural pieces with a modern twist. Mike wanted to do a slab table, however not the typical river table. I told him I had the slab for him. I picked this slab from a supplier a few years back and had it set in mind for a dining table. This use fit the need so I offered it up and they approved it. The rotted oak slab was encased in epoxy tinted with amber dye. The epoxy holds the delicate architecture of the rotted wood in place for the years to come. Being transluscent the table appears lighter than it is and also allows the wood to be center stage.
